St. Vincent did well at the box office when it was released in October 2014. It even snagged a Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture. Now, Netflix subscribers have the chance to watch it since it’s finally streaming on the platform. If you haven’t watched it yet, you might want to get to it soon because, like other licensed content on the streamer, it will eventually be removed.

St. Vincent is a comedy-drama film written and directed by Theodore Melfi. He’s best known for directing the Oscar-nominated film Hidden Figures. Melfi also produced the film along with Fred Roos, Jenno Topping, and Peter Chernin.

The movie explores the unlikely friendship between a lonely young boy whose parents have just divorced and a grumpy, vulgar, hard-drinking war veteran.

As we mentioned earlier Bill Murray portrays the protagonist of the film. He’s been in many movies and TV shows since the start of his acting career in the ’70s. Most recently he starred in the superhero film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Jaeden Martell plays the role of Oliver Bronstein, the young boy who befriends Vincent. Martell is best known for his role as Bill Denbrough in the 2017 horror film It. He also had roles in the movies It Chapter Two and Knives Out. He made his Netflix debut in the teen comedy Metal LordsThen, in October 2022, he starred in the Netflix teen horror film Mr. Harrigan’s Phone.

It is rated PG-13, meaning it may be inappropriate for ages under 13. It was given this maturity rating for sexual content, alcohol and tobacco use, and strong language. We wouldn’t recommend watching this film with the entire family if you have younger kids. We suggest putting on a kids’ show or movie for them before you begin watching St. Vincent.
