Who dies in True Story?

True Story stars Kevin Hart, but it’s no comedy. This Netflix original series has quite the body count by the time it’s all over.

The limited series tells the story of a famous comedian who gets makes mistake after mistake. With each new mistake, the stakes get a little higher and more people are at risk.

Who makes it out of the series alive? We shared the list of all of the people who died in True Story. 

Spoilers below for True Story!

While it might seem like Ari was the second person to die, he was actually the first person to die in True Story.

After trying to extort Kid, Ari makes a mistake. He tells Kid how he got the body, Daphne’s body, out of the hotel. Daphne was the person who OD’d after a night with Kid. As we learn later, she’s actually still alive and this is all a ruse.

Kid strangles Ari with a charger cord, and Carlton and Kid have to dispose of his body. They pick a dumpster somewhere in Philadelphia. For a time, it looks like they got away with it.

Unfortunately, Gene, Kid’s biggest fan, dies in True Story after getting wrapped up and in way too deep.

Gene follows Kid and Carlton that night that they dump the body. He also films the whole thing. Kid and Carlton almost kill Gene, but then Kid changes his mind and tries to help Gene by becoming his friend. He also really needs Gene to delete the video, which Gene finally does.

Carlton, then, plants Ari’s watch on Gene, and then he calls Nikos and Savvas to finish the job. They kill Gene, but Gene doesn’t tell them what happened with Kid and Carlton dumping Ari’s body.

For the second time, it looks like Kid and Carlton got away with it.

We think Daphne dies in the first episode, but it’s all part of Carlton’s plan to get money from Kid. Daphne is actually named Simone, and Kid finds out that she’s alive, which gives Carlton’s whole plan away.

Simone does actually die. After Nikos and Savvas figure out that Carlton and Kid were part of Ari’s death, Simone is shot and killed by Savvas when she refuses to tell him where Carlton is.

After Savvas and Nikos figure out that Kid and Carlton are at the Philadelphia 76ers basketball game, they bust into the arena with guns. Kid, Herschel, and Carlton flee, but in the chaos, Herschel is shot.

Luckily, Herschel survives. Kid agrees to pay Herschel $6 million after all of this happens.

Carlton is not quite as lucky as Herschel in True Story. After Carlton did what he did, Kid can’t forgive him. When the shootout happens in the arena, Kid kills Nikos and Savvas, and then he turns the gun on Carlton for all the things he did and caused.

Kid kills Carlton, and then, he makes it look like Nikos and Savvas did it.

Kid almost dies in True Story, but he survives by killing Nikos and Savvas and Carlton.

Yes, Nikos ans Savvas also die in True Story. Why they storm into the arena with guns doesn’t quite make sense to me. This was only going to end one way. I don’t know why they didn’t just wait until Carlton and Kid were alone somewhere, but whatever!
