Michelle Rhee is an American educator as well as an advocate for education reform. She also served as the First Lady of Sacramento from Sep 2011 till Dec 2016.

She is the second child of her parents; Shang Ree and Inza Rhee. Her father, Shang is a physician by profession whereas his mother, Inza is a clothing store owner.

She spent a significant portion of her childhood in Toledo, Ohio area along with her two siblings.

She completed primary education at a public school. After grade six, she moved to South Korea and continued her further education.

After a year, Michelle Rhee moved to her parents and attended a private school as her parents felt that something is lacking in public school.

In 1988, she completed her high school education at Maumee Valley Country Day School. Moving forward, she attended Cornell University.

In 1992, Michelle Rhee graduated from the University with Honors in Arts and majored in Government.

After that, she earned a master’s degree from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government with Honors in Public Policy.

Michelle Rhee first started her educator journey by attending a five-week summer training program at Teach For America.

Then she teaches at Harlem Park Elementary School for three years from 1992 to 1995.

Michelle Rhee also founded and worked as CEO of the company named The New Teacher Project (TNTP). This organization was created in 1997 and she worked till Jun 2007.

Moreover, she served as a Chancellor for Columbia district from June 2007 for three years. Rhee then in Dec 2010 founded StudentsFirst. She was its CEO but left the post in Jan 2018.
