My favorite thing about PETA are their ads featuring naked celebrities. My least favorite thing about them is the way their protestors accost me in front of KFC and hand me brutal pamphlets about live chickens and some kind of killing machine (I always have my hands over my ears while loudly singing “Sha-Na-Na” by this point, so I don’t know the inhumane details, which is why I refer to it as a generic killing machine) thus shaming me into going to Subway.

My second least favorite thing about PETA is how most of the naked celebs are women. They have plenty of male members out there – hello Alec Baldwin -care to make every female creature’s fantasy come true? It’s time for you pose in the buff on top of a wild boar or something. It’s what people who really love animals do.

Because Alec was too chicken busy, Kristen Johnston stepped up and bared all on a horse.

Baby, it’s cold outside…but Kristen Johnston would rather go naked than ride in a horse-drawn carriage. PETA has released the above homage to Lady Godiva in order to take a stance against the cruel business of horse carriages. The ads will debut today in Central Park (with Johnston on hand), and will be running on more than 100 taxi tops in the city. Other celebs supporting the cause are Pink, Alec Baldwin, and Chrissie Hynde. Johnston says:

“The horses go from this horrible job where they’re pulling people through the streets of Manhattan all day to this tiny jail cell in this building that’s like a cramped parking garage. I’d say to tourists considering coming to New York, there’s so much amazing stuff to do here. But please do something else. I hope within the next year that there are no more horse-drawn carriages.”

Is that a possibility? New York City councilmember Dan Garodnick’s is proposing a bill that will phase out horse-drawn carriages, and will replace them with eco-friendly horseless carriages (“replicas of the classic Ford Model T, evoking the romance and glamour of New York’s golden years”). Now, when do we see Alec Baldwin’s homage to Bianca Jagger riding bareback in Studio 54?

See? Everyone wants to see Alec take it off. Hopefully while screaming into a cell phone.

I generally don’t care for the way PETA goes about promoting their views, so I’m ashamed to say they work on me. Whenever I see one of those horses I feel really badly for him, and I no longer find the clip clopping so charming. Also, you can always tell when you’re walking where a carriage recently was because the smell is overpowering. I could definitely do without that. Unusual as it is, I think the councilman’s idea of replica Model Ts could be good. They’d have to make sure not to house them in anything like a “cramped parking garage” at night though, since apparently PETA is offended by that.
