In Bradford, West Yorkshire, on September 26, 1989, Bairstow was born. He is the second child of former Yorkshire and England wicket-keeper David Bairstow and the younger half-brother of former Derbyshire player Andrew Bairstow.

Andy Downes, a former student of Sir Thomas Rich, is credited by Jonny Bairstow with teaching him how to play cricket. After Bairstow’s first century in a test match, Downes said, “It’s good to see his hard work paying off.” He has the capacity to succeed in the end.

Jonathan Marc Bairstow is an English cricketer who competes for Yorkshire in the national league and for England internationally. Bairstow was a member of England’s World Cup-winning team in 2019. Bairstow was the only English wicketkeeper to record nine dismissals in a Test game when he played against South Africa in January 2016 and Sri Lanka in May 2016. Bairstow bats are right-handed as the opener in one-day internationals and bats in the middle of the order in tests. In a single Test, only Jack Russell and Bob Taylor have taken more wickets (11 dismissals against South Africa in 1995).
