Jennifer Lopez nominated for Worst Actress at The Razzies - and it's not her first time

It’s that time of the year, award season is upon us, but there’s one show you don’t want to receive nominations for, The Razzies. The awards are given out to performers and movies who are portrayed as the ‘worst’ of the year, so they’re no mantelpiece awards.

Unfortunately, some of our favorite Hollywood stars are up for a Razzie this year, including Megan Fox for her role in Johnny & Clyde, and Jennifer Lopez, for her role in The Mother. Let’s take a look at which of our other favorite celebs made the cut…

Jennifer Lopez and Megan Fox ‘battle it out’ for Worst Actress at The Razzies

An award we’re sure no one wants to win. Fox and JLo are also joined alongside Salma Hayek in this category, for her role in Magic Mike’s Last Dance. Unfortunately for Meg, she’s also been nominated for the Worst Supporting Actress category for her acting in Expend4bles, which leads the noms.

Surprisingly, Dame Helen Mirren is also up for Shazam! Fury of the Gods, alongside fifth nominee, Ana de Armas, for Ghosted.

The Jenny From The Block singer starred in the lead role as The Mother in the 2023 Action/Thriller film, as she also starred alongside Power’s main man, Omari Hardwick.

The Netflix film didn’t go as well as they probably would have hoped with fans, with a mere 43% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, they only received one Razzie nomination, so it’s not all bad.

It’s not her first time being recognized by The Razzies committee, though, with a total of 10 nominations. She has two under her belt, winning two for her performances in the 2003 movie Gigli. Ironically, one was for Worst Screen Couple, alongside now husband Ben Affleck. Ouch.

Other noms include Worst Actress in Angel Eyes, Enough, and 2016’s The Boy Next Door.

JLo was seen supporting her husband at this year’s Emmy Awards, but we doubt they’ll be making an appearance at the Razzies…

This year will mark the 44th year of The Golden Raspberry Awards, which were founded in 1981. Unlike other ceremonies, anyone can become a voting member of the panel, by paying an annual fee of $40 or a lifetime membership of $500.

Sylvester Stallone’s Expend4bles leads The Razzies nominations

Sylvester Stallone has had a groundbreaking career spanning almost five decades, but unfortunately, we all have a blip along the way.

The fourth movie of The Expendables franchise features huge stars including Stallone himself, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Megan Fox, and Andy García. However, even an all-star cast couldn’t stop The Razzies from striking, as they face seven categories.

The 2024 ceremony will take place on March 9, a day before the Oscars, but don’t hold your breath for your fave actors to attend. Here’s a full list of the noms, to keep you up to date.
