Pedro Pascal was asked if he’d tease Kieran Culkin over his win at the SAG Awards, but he had other plans in mind for the after party.
We’d be lost without a Pedro Pascal in the world, that’s for sure, and even more miserable without the strange Kieran Culkin thing they’ve got going on. At this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards Pedro beat three of the Succession cast to win Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama series. He was up against Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Matthew Macfadyen as well as Billy Crudup from The Morning Show. When the 48-year-old’s name was called on stage, he may not have been expecting to win at the awards show because he admitted he was a “little drunk”.
Pedro ‘making a fool’ of himself
The Last Of Us star admitted he may have had a little too much drink, when the celebrity finally got up to give his acceptance speech.
“This is wrong, for a number of reasons. I’m a little drunk. I thought I could get drunk,” he said.
“And thank you, HBO for … geez Louise, I’m making a fool of myself. But thank you so much for this!”
He called the award “an incredible f***** honor” and thanks his cast-members, the crew, HBO, and his family as he held back tears.
But we think fans were even more surprised by Pedro Pascal’s confession to Tan France backstage when the interviewer brought up Kieran Culkin.
Pedro Pascal wants to ‘make out’ with Kieran Culkin
Tan asks Pedro Pascal: “How badly are you going to rag Kieran [Culkin] at the after party tonight?”
The Wonder Woman star replied: “I’m going to make out with Kieran tonight.”
“You heard it here first folks!” Tan gasps towards the camera before turning to the 48-year-old. “It’s because you’re drunk”.
Pedro quips: “It’ll be my revenge.”
The joke rivalry was fueled by the Succession star, who defeated Pedro at the Golden Globes last month. After his hilarious speech, the TV star said to audience: “Suck it, Pedro! Sorry! Mine!”
Pedro then leaned on his famous meme, by smiling before ‘crying’ in despair.
Kieran Culkin and Pedro Pascal get even weirder later
It doesn’t stop there, the pair end up meeting backstage where they take photos of the movie stars and TV actors with their statues.
The host calls over Kieran to ask him if he was aware of Pedro’s ‘plans’ to celebrate. He also denied rumors they were going to kiss, declaring it was ‘false!’
But then the 41-year-old revealed Ped was even stranger, saying the star – who had a little bit to drink – asked if Kieran wanted to smell his armpits.
“That was weird,” he says as he puts his arm around him for a hug.
Don’t worry, they’re good friends
Fans know too well that it’s just a joke they have in this year’s award season about their rivalry, in reality, they’ve known each other for years.
Pedro Pascal explained to the host how Kieran Culkin came up to him years ago when he was “already famous” to tell the celebrity how much he liked his play. It meant a lot to him that he did that.
“He is the greatest. I can remember, years ago, him taking one of my younger siblings to an FAO Schwartz in Manhattan,” Pascal explained he was in New York City for a play.
“He came up to me and complimented me on the play, he was already famous, had been a lead in the movie Igby Goes Down, and he approached me in public just to tell me that — he doesn’t remember this at all, I remember this — we’ve known each other since then.
“It’s been amazing to see him in that show, to the point of which I feel guilty about not seeing his speech tonight, but it’ll be fine.”
